Royal Exhibition Building | ExpoQuote

The Royal Exhibition Building is a magnificent space to experience. It is the oldest surviving from the Great Exhibition era that is still operating as an exhibition hall. Standing strong in Carlton Gardens, the is a beautiful piece of architecture, inside and out—a true landmark of Melbourne.

Growing continuously together, Melbourne and the World Heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building have been bringing people and ideas together for nearly 140 years. The jewel of the Melbourne city skyline, the Royal Exhibition Building opened in 1880 to house exhibitions, transform industry and encourage new ways of thinking.

Working to protect this architectural legacy for future generations are award-winning historical architects Lovell Chen and heritage builders HBS Group. They will deliver southern façade conservation works and the restoration of the 1880’s Dome Promenade. This will offer unparalleled 360-degree views.  This restored attraction will also include a lift, in the same location as the one installed for the 1888 Melbourne Centennial International Exhibition.

There are dozens of exhibition spaces scattered all over Australia which host a variety of exhibitions. The Royal Exhibition Building is one of these venues and hosts an array of great shows each year. Events like the Boho Luxe Market take place here annually.
