The Mackay Showground is an expansive outdoor space typically used for fun outback events. The Mackay Show is part of the Mackay local landscape. Throughout the year the Mackay Showground is used as a venue for various fun events. This venue is owned and managed by the Mackay and District Agricultural Pastoral and Industrial Association Incorporated. The Society’s aim is to promote local agricultural industries, arts, baking, produce and a range of arts and crafts.
The Mackay Showground will be back with a show full of events like Showjumping, cattle display, woodchopping. Not only that, there shall be a sideshow alley, the exhibits and some fantastic foods including the famous dagwood dog. There’ll be a fabulous firework display put on here.
The Mackay Showground hosts a range of events and has a capacity of around 10,000. This includes a new 1000-seat pavilion that was recently constructed to replace the old pavilion. The venue hosts the annual Mackay Show and has previously hosted NRL pre-season games featuring the North Queensland Cowboys up until 2006.
As well as the fun filled events, there are trade shows and exhibitions held at the venues all over Australia. The Mackay Showground is no exception. One of the largest and most important shows for Queensland is held here. The Queensland Mining & Engineering Expo (QME) is a fantastic exhibition, utilising this open air venue to showcase the latest in mining technology.
