The Luxembourg Sustainability Forum (LSF) stands as a pivotal event in Luxembourg’s commitment to sustainable development. Organized annually by IMS Luxembourg, the forum serves as a dynamic platform for addressing pressing environmental and social challenges, fostering dialogue among stakeholders, and showcasing innovative solutions aimed at building a resilient and inclusive society.
Since its inception, the LSF has brought together a diverse array of participants, including renowned personalities, experts, business leaders, associations, public organizations, and students. This convergence facilitates the exchange of ideas and best practices, driving collective action towards sustainability goals. Over the years, the forum has hosted over 5,500 participants and featured 253 international experts, professionals, and artists who have shared their research and initiatives. Notable speakers have included Anne Larigauderie, Lewis Pugh, Jean Jouzel, Jeremy Rifkin, and John Elkington.
The LSF distinguishes itself through its original format, often designed as a live TV show with an audience, and broadcasted live on platforms such as imslux.lu and rtl.lu. This approach ensures broad accessibility, allowing individuals beyond the physical venue to engage with the content. The event offers simultaneous translation into English and French, catering to Luxembourg’s multilingual audience.
Each edition of the forum incorporates artistic performances, including exhibitions, immersive videos, music, and dance. These creative elements aim to inspire attendees, evoke emotions, and provide alternative perspectives on sustainability issues, thereby enriching the overall experience.
A core objective of the LSF is to highlight tangible actions and solutions. The forum invites local and international actors to share concrete initiatives they have implemented, encouraging attendees to adapt and replicate these practices within their own contexts. This emphasis on actionable insights ensures that the forum’s discussions translate into real-world impact.
The 13th edition of the LSF, held on October 22, 2024, delved into the theme “AI for Positive Impact – Hopes & Challenges.” This edition examined the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in the context of sustainable development, addressing questions about its benefits, societal and environmental impacts, and how AI innovation can be directed towards tackling major global challenges. The program included discussions on the societal issues raised by AI, presentations of game-changing innovations, and explorations of the future of work in an AI-integrated world.
Building on the success of previous forums, the 14th edition of the LSF is scheduled for November 25, 2025. The upcoming forum aims to continue its tradition of addressing major sustainability challenges and presenting forward-thinking solutions. As with prior editions, the event will be designed in a TV-show format, broadcast live, and feature a live audience, ensuring continued engagement and accessibility. Organizations interested in supporting the forum can become event sponsors, aligning their brand with this leading sustainability initiative.
The Luxembourg Sustainability Forum has firmly established itself as a cornerstone event for sustainable development in Luxembourg. Through its innovative formats, integration of artistic elements, and focus on actionable solutions, the LSF continues to inspire and mobilize a wide range of stakeholders towards building a more sustainable and inclusive future. As the forum evolves, it remains a testament to Luxembourg’s dedication to addressing global sustainability challenges through local action and international collaboration.
